We are one of the world’s largest independent removals companies specialising in providing a comprehensive removal solution for your household and personal effects, from and to anywhere in the world.
White and Company has perfected the art of international moving since its inception in 1871. With a network of 18 branches spanning the UK, Channel Islands, Germany and Majorca, White and Company is staffed by fully trained, courteous employees committed to service excellence.
The process
Ideally arrangements for your removal should be made at least three months before your intended removal date.
The survey
We will arrange an appointment at a convenient date and time to survey your consignment and to discuss your requirements.
The quotation
Dependent on the total estimated volume of your consignment as surveyed we will provide you with a personalised quotation to cover all your requirements.
The move
On acceptance of our quotation, packing and moving dates will be arranged with you and we will guide you through all the required documentation
Packing
All furniture and appliances are tailor-packaged in high quality flexible packing material known as ‘cushion craft’. Smaller fragile items such as ornaments, glassware, crockery, china, linen, clothing, books, etc are wrapped in acid-free paper and packed into double wall board cartons to ensure maximum durability. Additional packaging such as tissue paper, bubble plastic and crating are utilised for particularly fragile items such as crystal and delicate dinnerware.
Sea freight
Sea freight consignments are shipped in steel shipping containers. These are available in two sizes, 20ft (6 metre) or 40ft (12 metre) containers. These can be loaded either at your residence or our stores, depending on your requirements. The containers are shipped to Canada using the most reputable shipping lines and every effort is made to ensure the quickest and most direct shipping time.
Airfreight
Personal effects and much smaller or urgent consignments can be air-freighted to Canada. The transit time is a lot shorter, approximately ten days door to door. Personal effects are packed into normal cartons and loaded into specially constructed airfreight crates.
Liability cover
Comprehensive ‘all risk’ liability cover will be arranged on receipt of a duly completed overseas valuation form.
Customs clearance
Your consignment will require customs clearance for exit from the UK as well as entry into CANADA. We will provide all the required documentation and offer any assistance you may need to complete these.
Storage
Containerised storage can be arranged in any of our 17 branches in the UK, or with any of our partner’s facilities in Canada, no matter the final city of your destination.
The delivery
Once your consignment has cleared Canadian customs, our partners will arrange for delivery and a full unpacking service. Debris will be removed on the day of delivery and the container returned to terminal.
