Nova Scotia

Kayak and sailing boatsWhy are more and more families coming to live – and love – Nova Scotia?

For balance

You can build a successful career and still have time to enjoy the rewards of your work. Go from a downtown office to your home, secluded beach, or championship golf course, in minutes. At 53,000 square kilometres, we’re just a wee bit smaller than Ireland but have less than a quarter of the population, with 934,000 people. We enjoy open spaces and uncrowded living.

For success

Nova Scotia is located halfway between the United Kingdom and California, so you can conduct business with clients in both London and San Francisco the same workday. Our international airport offers US pre-clearance with flying time from Halifax, our capital city, to New York in just two hours, 25 minutes and to Boston in two hours. It’s also just two hours and 30 minutes to Toronto and six hours to London.

We are home to the second largest natural harbour in the world, which is ice-free year round. Our post-secondary institutions, including 11 universities and 13 community college campuses, are award-winning.

Nova Scotia has been welcoming people from around the world for centuries. Immigrants have helped make the province a vibrant, dynamic society in which everyone can build their dreams.
