The city of Vancouver in British Columbia figures in the latest Mercer Quality of Living Survey as joint fourth-best city to live in the world (alongside Auckland, New Zealand).
The city also takes the top spot for quality of living in the Americas.
Three Canadian cities feature in the top 20 list, with Ottawa in 14thth place and Toronto in 16th, out of a total of 221 cities in the world.
Other Canadian cities featured include Montreal in 21st place and Calgary in 28th.
The Mercer’s 2010 Quality of Living Survey covers 221cities and ranks them based on 39 criteria, including socio-economic, environmental, health, education and transport factors.
