The Canadian government has increased the number of annual investor visas to 3000 in 2010, an increase of 1000 visas from 2009.
With this measure, the government hopes to reduce the time it takes to process applications under this category. In most cases, visas should be approved between one and two years after submitting the applications. Some applications will have even shorter processing times and may be approved about one year after they have been submitted.
In order to be eligible for an investor visa in Canada, you are required to give the government an interest-free loan of $400,000 for five years. You must also own $800,000 in net assets and have management experience.
