British Columbia signs new immigration agreement

The province of British Columbia (BC) has signed a new immigration agreement with federal government of Canada to improve collaboration between provincial and federal governments in immigration matters.

The federal government will transfer $114 million to British Columbia to fund immigration and settlement services in the province. The money will also be used to fund community initiatives, aimed at better integrating newcomers into BC society.

"The signing of today's agreement with British Columbia will support the integration of newcomers, helping to ensure that they're able to contribute to our economy and succeed in Canada,” said Canada’s Immigration Minister Jason Kenny, in a statement to the media.
