Nova Scotia adds 1500 jobs in March

Nova Scotia’s unemployment rate continues to drop, with news of 1500 new jobs added just in the month of March.

The unemployment rate for the province is currently sitting at 8.5%, down from 9.3% in February. While adding new jobs in March, Nova Scotia saw 2700 fewer people looking for work in that period.

The goods-producing sector, which includes manufacturing, construction, agriculture, forestry, fishing, mining, and oil and gas, was the main sector responsible for the increase in job offers.

According to area developer Carol Taylor, as quoted by The Chronicle Herald, anyone looking for a job at the moment should look into applying at the healthy food franchise Extreme Pita, as the company intends to hire up to 150 people in Atlantic Canada during this summer.

"The economy is finally starting to turn around. People have a lot more confidence now. They’re deciding that probably it is time to get out and spend again,” added Taylor.
