Saskatchewan
Along with Alberta, Saskatchewan is one of the two provinces in Canada that is completely landlocked. The province is surrounded by Alberta on the west, Northwest Territories on the North and Manitoba on the east. South of Saskatchewan are the United States Montana and North Dakota.
A little over a million people occupy the 588,276.09 square kilometres that constitute the province. The largest city is Saskatoon and the provincial capital is Regina.
Saskatchewan’s distance from any body of water has a strong effect on its climate, being partly responsible for its warm summers and bitterly cold winters.
Saskatchewan is the only province in which no borders correspond to actual physical geographic features (they are, instead, parallels and meridians).
The province’s economy is mainly fuelled by industries such as finance, insurance, real estate, leasing, mining and petroleum.
