Saskatchewan

Along with Alberta, Saskatchewan is one of two completely landlocked Canadian provinces. It is surrounded by Alberta to the west, Northwest Territories to the North and Manitoba to the east. South of Saskatchewan are the US of Montana and North Dakota.

A little over a million people occupy the 588,276.09 square kilometres constituting the province. The largest city is Saskatoon and the provincial capital is Regina.

Saskatchewan’s distance from any body of water has a strong effect on its climate, being partly responsible for its warm summers and bitterly cold winters.

Saskatchewan is the only Canadian province with borders corresponding to actual physical geographic features but instead to parallels and meridians).

The province’s economy is mainly fuelled by industries such as finance, insurance, real estate, leasing, mining and petroleum.
