A new job took me to Canada
Dubliner Morgan Granger made the brave and somewhat daunting move to Canada all by herself.
“I work as a software developer and am very keen snowboarder. Both of these factors led to my choosing Canada as my new home.” Morgan says.
She began researching Canada out of personal interest and found that her job was needed in Canada. “I used the internet to scout out potential employers looking for software developers and ended up getting a job offer in Calgary while still in Dublin! I needed to make the move within a month so it was a very hectic time. Fortunately websites such as Working In Canada were a wealth of information and a big help, and my employers were excellent and provided accommodation for me for two months while I looked for a flat.”
Morgan now shares an apartment with two Canadians and an English expat. “I do miss home though. It’s not easy moving to a new country all alone. My dad is coming for a visit over Christmas so I’m really looking forward to that.” Morgan adds, “Lake Louise is by far my most favourite place in the world – and it’s just over a two-hour drive from my home. I spend a lot of time there!”
