Shaw Brick is looking to hire people for the position of Brick and Stone Mason to work with masonry companies in Nova Scotia on residential and commercial projects.


Prepare and lay bricks, concrete blocks, structural tiles or other masonry units, Lay bricks, stone or similar materials to provide veneer facing, Construct and install prefabricated masonry units, Build patios, garden walls and other decorative installations, Read sketches and blueprints to calculate materials required, Cut and trim bricks and concrete blocks to specification using hand and power tools, Lay bricks or other masonry units to build residential or commercial projects.


The Province of Nova Scotia requires that Bricklayers are a compulsory certified trade. That means Journeyman Bricklayers have their Red Seal Certification. Bricklayers/masons from other countries can challenge the exam with proof of 10,800 hours worked and 2 references. The exam is 100 multiple choice questions and reflects building standards in Canada.
