We are expanding our organization and have an immediate opportunity for a Project Engineer – (Civil Engineering preferred) - experience in the power generation field (hydro, wind, etc...) is a definite asset.
The ideal candidate will have:
• Minimum 7 years work experience in a construction environment.
• Minimum 3 years experience working in the hydroelectric power industry would be an asset.
• Work responsibilities that may have included any of:
o Engineering or other technical role.
o Water management role.
o Operations role.
• Minimum 3 years project management experience:
o Background does not have to include project engineering in a hydroelectric environment although that would be ideal.
o Experience working in a multiple project environment would also be an asset.
• Excellent interpersonal skills:
o Demonstrates clear and concise written communications.
o Is an effective verbal communicator.
o Demonstrates effective leadership skills.
• Exhibits strong analytical and problem solving skills.
• Travel will be required – sometimes extensively.
Responsibilities for this position are:
The Project Engineer will be responsible to oversee the technical/engineering processes and functions on one or two significant projects or multiple small projects focused on new hydroelectric development and or the rehabilitation / redevelopment of existing hydroelectric facilities and additional power generation projects across Canada. The current focus would be projects located in Eastern Canada but the role could be expanded to include projects in Western Canada (working out of our Richmond, B.C. office) and the North Eastern United States in the future.
The Project Engineer will report directly to a Project Manager and will be responsible to provide project leadership to a young energetic and talented technical group of project coordinators. The Project Engineer will not initially have any line supervision role but may grow into such a role as he/she gains experience and credibility in the organization.
The Project Engineer is responsible to work in chorus with the Project Manager and the project team, planning through all phases of the project from Initiation to closeout. During the execution phase of projects, the Project Engineer will provide reporting responsibilities and will support the Project Manager in the performance of his/her duties.
Educational Requirements:
• Bachelor of Engineering from a recognized engineering program, or equivalent, preferred.
