JOB SUMMARY:
Under general supervision from the Clinical Leader, the Respiratory Therapist performs professional duties relating to the interdisciplinary assessment, treatment, education and management of patients using all appropriate respiratory therapy modalities and techniques. As part of an interdisciplinary team, this position will establish and operate services that will enhance transition and community support of the complex cardiopulmonary patient population. The team provides treatment to complex and/or chronic clients in an outpatient setting. The Respiratory Therapist ensures that his/her practice is evidence-based, client centered and meets Respiratory Therapy clinical standards of practice.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of an accredited school of Respiratory Therapy
- Successfully completed CSRT certification examination
- Registered as a Respiratory Therapist with the College and Association of Respiratory Therapists of Alberta under the Health Disciplines Act.
- Three to five years clinical respiratory therapy experience desired
- Certified Asthma Educator (CAE) and COPD educator course completed or intention thereof
- Experience in sleep disordered breathing, non-invasive ventilation, related equipment and troubleshooting techniques.
- Experience in working with patients with chronic or terminal disease desired
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
- Demonstrated ability to work within an interdisciplinary team required
- Current CPR certification required
