Responsibilities
• Carry out the inspection, maintenance and repair of a wide variety of medium/heavy trucks and equipment which have gas or diesel engines and automatic transmissions.
• Exercise considerable independence of judgment and actions in the technical aspects of the work.
• Perform work from repair and diagnostic manuals and is responsible for trouble shooting, repair and overhaul of various components.
• Provide closely detailed training and assistance to Apprentices, Pre-apprentices, Servicemen and advice to other trades.
• Write clear, concise reports of work completed on the work order.
• Comply with laws & local regulations intended to prevent injury and accidents.
• Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
• Verifiable training/experience as a Heavy Vehicle/Equipment Mechanic supplemented by six years experience in maintaining and repairing heavy trucks and equipment including engines, drive lines and transmissions.
• Formally trained as an apprentice.
• Knowledge in the use of diagnostic tools and equipment.
• Applicants will have to challenge the apprenticeship exam in accordance with the provisions of the Tradesman's Qualification Act and possession of the Province of Alberta Certificate of Proficiency, Heavy Duty Mechanic/Heavy Equipment Technician Certificate.
• Must be able to obtain an Alberta Class 3 driver's license with an air brake endorsement, a City of Calgary Driver's Certificate.
• Must possess a standard set of mechanic hand tools.
• Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications.

Remuneration: Mechanic I $28.49 - 30.18 - 31.89 per hour.

Note: In order to qualify for a work visa in this trade in Alberta, applicants must have 9000 hours and 72 months of hands-on work experience.
