Education in Saskatchewan

Saskatchewan’s Ministry of Learning is responsible for the education system in the province. The ministry’s responsibilities include early childhood care, the PreK-12 education system, and the Provincial Library.

The education system in Saskatchewan is divided as follows:

  • Elementary (from kindergarten through grade eight or nine)
  • Secondary (high school, grade nine or 10 through grade 12)
  • Post Secondary (university and college)

The programs are administered by the districts school boards. There are four main school board division designations:

  • Public school divisions
  • Separate school divisions
  • Francophone school division
  • Protestant school division

As for post-secondary education, the Saskatchewan system is divided into university degrees and trade or technical training.
